Skin that doesn’t just last the journey…

I travelled home last weekend and spent my time wisely once again in departures, this time  I decided to review a couple of La Mer products and see how they stood up to the effects of travel on my 2 hour flight from London back to Oslo and my hour coach journey from Oslo airport to my apartment. The actors I’m currently working with are big fans of La Mer so I thought I’d see what all the hype is about.

To prep my skin I started with “The Renewal Oil”. It didn’t sink straight into my skin and left a residue for a small amount of time but it did provide a really lovely smooth base for the foundation to be applied onto. The foundation I used is called “The Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation”

The foundation blended into my skin really nicely and gave a good coverage. It also felt smooth and hydrating which I love. I’m a fan of glowing skin rather than matte and this product worked perfectly for that.

This is me after an hour sat on the runway, my flight and coach home… aka quite a lot of dry air abuse.

Personally I think I’m still looking rather fresh and I am very impressed with how the products held up. I now share the love of La Mer with my fellow colleagues but it would be more of a treat purchase rather than my go too as the price tag is rather hefty.

Hope you enjoyed my review on these La Mer products. Please comment below if you have any products you’d like me to test against the stresses of travel 💄

Skin that didn’t quite last the journey….

Back at the airport which means more cosmetics to review 🙌🏽

I went with a Scandinavian theme today. I chose Tromborg to prep my skin.. I have been using their lip cure on set and it’s so hydrating but also matte which is perfect for on camera to provide a hydrated and non shiny lip.

I started with a spritz of their “facial mist lavender water” followed by their “anti-ageing molecular messenger cream”. I love spritzing my face with natural rose water so thought I’d have a go with Tromborg’s lavender water.. it was nice but nothing to write home about. The cream went on really nicely and felt very luxurious… although that could be psychological as it costs nearly £300!! 😬

For a foundation I used “Nilens Jord Second Skin Serum Foundation”. It went on smoothly and was very easy to blend and was a good colour match but when I landed and checked my face in the mirror I wasn’t all that impressed with how the foundation had held up to the 2 hour flight from Oslo to London. The foundation had disappeared from my chin are which is where my skin is quite hormonal and where I like to have coverage. Also I feel the air con on the flight dried the product out. I started the journey glowing and ended it looking rather matte.

I was feeling pretty sleepy this morning as I had to be up early for my flight so I tried a bit of “Nilens Jord Creamy Touch Blush” to brighten up my face. I don’t often wear blush but I was quite a fan of this as it was more like a highlighter and had a lovely shimmer to it. This product did last the journey and I still had a nice healthy colour to my cheeks when I landed.

Overall I think if you have the money to spare for Tromborgs products then they are lovely but they wouldn’t be my first choice. I would definitely recommend “Nilens Jord Creamy Touch Blush” but I wasn’t the biggest fan of their foundation.

Tromborg is organic and cruelty free and Nilens Jord is cruelty free and both have a selection of vegan products 🌱

Hope you enjoyed the post, if you want me to try any products and see how they last the journey then please comment under my blog 🙃

Let’s talk about Lush baby…

I thought I’d share with you my obsession with the cosmetics brand LUSH.

There are so many positives about this brand that I don’t know where to start… it would be easier to list the negatives.. oh wait, there are none!

I’ll start with the fab way that they are helping to protect the environment. And how easy they make it for us too also.

Firstly 35% of their products are naked (no packaging) this fills me with joy because the way single use plastic effects the oceans and sea life is absolutely heartbreaking 💔

This is one of the reasons I love their shampoo/conditioner bars, soap and many other products they sell. I felt so smug the first time I walked away with my shampoo, conditioner, soap and foot scrub packaged in one 100% recycled paper bag and my two reusable tins. Tip – cut your products down to smaller sizes so you can fit more than one in each tin. And save packaging this way also.

Secondly, many of their products are packaged in black pots… save them up and each time you bring back 5 you receive a free face mask… #winning (who doesn’t love a freebie).

Thirdly they are partnering with the Ocean Legacy Foundation to put to use recovered plastic from the ocean and use it as a material in their bottles and pots. 💙

Lastly LUSH are 100% vegetarian and all the products I use are vegan 🌱 LUSH also buy ethically and local where possible and they fight animal testing… what’s not to lush!

If you’re interested in some of my current favourite @lushcosmetics products then here they are….

#trichomaniashampoobar – ultra hydrating which is perfect for curly hair.

#jungleconditionerbar which does exactly what it says on its label and softens and tames wild hair. I have curly, frizz prone hair and I’ve seen a real decline in frizz since using natural products.

#maypolesoap – smells delicious! Peppermint smelling soap that leaves me stepping out of the shower fresh af.

#cupocoffeefaceandbodymask – I use this once/twice a week and my skin feels so soft after…. also there’s something kinda refreshing about your face smelling like an espresso.. feels like it really wakes my skin up so it’s also my go to after a night out ☕️

#pumicepower – orange smelling foot scrub that keeps your feet flawless.

#darkangelscleanser – I’ve been blessed with hormonal adult acne on my chin area and this product is my new best friend as I feel it really cleanses away any grime from the day and clears my skin up a treat 🙌🏽

.

And as I mentioned before all @lush products that I personally use are cruelty free and vegan 🌱

Skin that doesn’t just last the journey….

I’ve been spending a lot of time at airports lately with work.. so to use my time in departures wisely I’ve started trying out new products and seeing how well they last post flight/travel to my destination….. If there’s any way to test cosmetics it’s to put them up against the harsh air con in airplanes. ✈️ So I’m starting with @bareminerals “brilliant future age defense & renew serum”… I’m nearing my thirties so thought I’d get a step ahead of the ageing game and this serum soaked into my skin beautifully. And also left me with a glowing base for my next step.

Secondly I applied @bareminerals “complexion rescue tinted hydrating gel cream”, this went on so nicely on top of my serum base and had good coverage for a tinted cream… I’ve still got some colour from my previous job out in the Caribbean on BBC Death in Paradise so I chose the colour “natural 05” and it blended perfectly. I used my fingers to apply this product rather than a brush so I could warm it into the skin, whereas using a brush I found it left brush strokes as it’s so creamy and the brush ended up soaking up more of the product than my skin… and nobody wants that. 🙅🏽‍♀️ .

The tinted cream also has spf 30. I recommend wearing sun protection every day to prevent the signs of ageing but it’s especially important with the sunny weather we’re having at the moment. ☀️ The picture of me is post flight and coach journey back to my apartment in Oslo and my skin is still glowing. ✅

I highly rate these two products from @bareminerals and they’re cruelty free which is a must 🌱 If you’ve enjoyed this post please like, share or comment 😘
